Socket colors may be either red, blue, green, or white. It's only possible to get red, blue, or green sockets by using this orb; If you want to get white sockets, it is necessary to use a Vaal Orb.

How to use Chromatic Orb

1. Chromatic Orb Chances

Sockets are more likely to roll a colour corresponding to the attributes of the equipment being altered. The higher the attribute requirements, the more likely it is to roll the relevant color.

• More Strength requirements mean more red sockets chances;
• More Dexterity requirements mean more green sockets chances;
• More Intelligence requirements mean more blue sockets chances;

If one either wants to avoid randomness or wishes to obtain a specific colour combination that is unlikely on a certain item (e.g. getting all red sockets on an item requiring high intelligence), one can instead use the Crafting Bench recipe that able to find in Delve mine. When obtaining socket colours that an item is already biased towards (e.g. obtaining red sockets on a chest piece requiring high Strength), using Chromatic Orbs manually is less costly than using the Bench. On the other hand, for obtaining a socket colour that an item is biased against (e.g. obtaining green sockets on a chest piece requiring high Strength), using Chromatic Orbs manually is typically much more costly than using the Bench.

Vaal Orb and socket colour

1. White socket chance

Using a Chromatic Orb cannot get a white socket, while Vaal Orb corrupts an item have these chances:

• No effect (other than adding the corrupted property).
• Change one or more sockets to white sockets. This has a 1/4 chance of occurring, with a 1/10 chance for each additional socket (1/40 for two, up to 1/400000 for 6 white sockets).
• Reroll the item into a rare item with randomized sockets, links, and six random affixes. If this result is chosen, there is a one in thirty-six chance the item will have the maximum number of sockets and links.
• Change the implicit to a special Vaal Implicit, or adds a Vaal implicit if the item has no implicit by default.
• Transforms certain unique items into a different unique item.

2. How to change socket color corrupted item

The answer is by using Crafting bench recipes. This is currently the only way the colours of sockets on a corrupted item can be modified.
